Pound Gates Insurance Brokers has achieved the requirements of the Cyber Essentials scheme, a cyber-security standard, which organisations can be assessed and certified against.
Cyber Essentials, developed by Government and the IT security industry, identifies the security controls that an organisation must have in place within their IT systems in order to have confidence that they are addressing cyber-security effectively and mitigating the risk from internet-based threats.
The scheme focuses on the following five essential mitigation strategies within the context of the 10 Steps to Cyber Security guide:
- Boundary Firewalls and Internet Gateways
- Secure Configuration
- Access Control
- Malware Protection
- Patch Management
Through the Assurance Framework it also offers a mechanism for organisations to demonstrate to their stakeholders that they have taken these essential precautions.
Del Sharman, Director at Pound Gates commented: “Almost every organisation relies on technology in some way, and where there is technology there is a risk. Achieving the Cyber Essentials certification is another way for us to demonstrate to our stakeholders how seriously we take security throughout our operations.”
